Ideally the logo would combine coastal / beach imagery with other icons which denote security and safety. For example, an idea that I'd like to see explored would be to use a starfish (beach) and combine it with a sheriff's badge (security). Perhaps an embossed starfish over a brass police badge shape. (However, I do NOT want the icon to evoke Cowboy / "Old West" theme). These are only suggestions, so if you have better ideas, bring 'em on!
The icon could be detailed / high-res for our website and online advertising, but should be "down-scalable" i.e. iconic enough to be reproduced in greyscale / B&W for photocopied contracts, business cards, etc. We will likely want to utilize the icon (or a simplified version thereof) as a stencil to be painted on the rental unit doors. About us: our facility is centrally accessible self-storage complex in the Monterey Bay area. We are cheaper than our competitors, so in addition to imparting a sense of security and protection, affordability is one of our key attributes. Target audience are typically people relocating or moving in/out of a home, small businesses who store tools / materials for 24/7 access (such as landscapers), businesses utilizing the space for document storage, military personnel while deployed, and your typical "hoarder." Additionally, we rent a handful of our units as micro artist studios for local artists.
Sand City is a clean friendly town on the beach, which has attracted artisan tradesmen and light industrial uses. The facility is a one story gray building with blue doors, though we will be repainting soon and would consider changing these colors entirely to match the new branding.
